What exactly is Managed Hosting?

Managed hosting is a service model in which a service provider handles server management, setup, administration, and overall support. When you choose managed hosting, the hosting company ensures that your sites and applications are always up and running – and they fix any problems that arise along the way.

A managed hosting service is a support and technology-based system.

You communicate from Illinois, with a professional team of experts at the hosting company, and they help you quickly react, upgrade, or downgrade certain features.

In other words, they will handle all of the technical details so you can concentrate on creating content and running your business.

Features of Managed Hosting

Features of Managed Hosting

The management services provided by managed hosting set it apart from other dedicated hosting options.

Managed hosting companies are in charge of software and hardware installation and configuration, as well as monitoring, updates, technical support, and system maintenance. Managed hosting solutions can usually be tailored to your company’s specific needs.

They do, however, cover general features such as:

Technical assistance with problem resolution. System administrators, technical staff, and network operations engineers with expertise in a wide range of technologies are employed by managed hosting companies. They invest in their employees to stay current with the latest technological solutions, resulting in long-term customer satisfaction and better service for your company.

Services for security. Security measures are essential for both large and small websites. A managed hosting provider will provide services such as intrusion detection, virus and spam protection, vulnerability scans, physical security (data centre protection), and so on.

Shared Hosting vs. Managed Hosting

Shared hosting is a service that allows your website to “share” resources with other websites on the same server. It’s a self-managed solution that’s ideal for novices with brand-new websites. Shared hosting provides adequate resources for personal websites, start-ups, and small businesses.

Because of the low costs, shared hosting is very popular. Individual user costs are kept low because many people share the same server.

The majority of shared hosting plans include simple and easy-to-use features. You get a user-friendly control panel, for example, where you can create an email account, upload your site files, and add the databases that certain services require.

Shared Hosting vs. Managed Hosting

Benefits and Drawbacks of Managed Hosting

There are numerous reasons to use Managed Hosting regardless of the type of website you want to build. Here are a few examples:

Pros

It saves time. When someone else handles maintenance and management, you can devote more time to your business.
Risk has been reduced. Hosting support is critical. You receive highly specialised technical support that is always available and ready to assist you when problems arise.

Modern technology that is adaptable. A professionally managed hosting service stays up to date on the latest technology and updates, allowing you to make the most of your business and avoid falling behind.

High speed and excellent performance. Regular shared hosting is designed for basic site requirements. It can also instal software and numerous unnecessary modules that will slow down your website. Managed hosting solutions, on the other hand, provide only the features required to run your site and any special plugins that may be used. This significantly improves website performance and speeds up the site.

Cons

Price. Managed hosting services are more expensive than shared hosting. Keep in mind that shared hosting does not provide the same level of support — only the basics.

No access to personal servers. One disadvantage of managed hosting is that companies do not give their customers access to the control panel because they manage your site for you.

There is no email hosting. If you want a plan that allows you to host both your website and your emails, a managed hosting solution will not suffice.

Managed Hosting is simple to set up.

Do you believe you must be a computer genius to improve reliability on your website? Consider again! Managed Servers make your job easier, by letting the tech’s concentrate on the technical stuff; so you can work on your client’s business.

  1. They do the right thing...

    Ronald C

Initially, I rated them a one star due to what I perceived to be a bait-and-switch sales tactic. The definition of "term" was not concrete, so I assumed it to be an annual term, billed monthly. I complained, and the sales team told me there was nothing they could do. I started moving my sites to a competitor when a sales manager from A2 contacted me to offer to extend rate for 11-months, which is what I had expected. I am delighted to say that they did the right thing for the customer. I am happy to update my review to 5 stars as every other experience with them has been outstanding. They have successfully retained me as a loyal customer for years to come.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Original post below:Read every line very carefully. I recently upgraded my service to what I thought was a 1-year term, paying monthly. WRONG. I only received a single month promotional rate. I have been a customer for years, but now I am moving to another provider.I did reach out to the company to see if they could extend the offer, but they said no. I get it, they want to stick to the legal definition in the agreement to maximize their profits. We are all in business to make money after all. They need to be clearer in their marketing to ensure the customer fully understand their definition of "term" in this regard. I viewed the "term" to be annual, since that has always been the "term" in prior service subscriptions I have had with them. The change in the definition of "term" was unanticipated leading to my shock and surprise. To make this right, their marketing department needs to shore up their process to ensure the customer fully understands what it is that they are agreeing to before committing the order and locking in the subscription. In my case, what I'd like to see is to simply extend the "term" to be 1-year instead of 1-month. If you can do that, I'll stay with A2 Hosting. If you can't, I'll be forced to look for equivalent hosting services elsewhere with terms that I understand in advance.

  2. Had a issue with domain being directed…

    Dave M

Had a issue with domain being directed to http site instead of https site when typing the www.domainname into browsers. Swapnil B fixed me right up. Changed a setting in Cpanel for me and now all browsers are directed to the HTTPS / Secure site. QUICK!!!

  1. It's gotten worse and worse

    joanna d

It's gotten worse and worse - had problems for MONTHS with emails, very hard to get customer support other than through online chat - and whereas we had a great introductory offer for about $71 for three years (1.99 per month), they now billed us $345.17 for the next three years. Are you kidding me????? That's by far the most expensive webhosting offer there is just about! We have three small websites with them and email - so no thanks, I'll take my business elsewhere. I understand them putting the price up, but this is ridiculous! FIVE TIMES THE ORIGINAL COST!!!! And when we had issues recently, getting GOOD technical support was almost impossible, took hours and hours, week after week problem persisted. It's time to move on, sorry Ipage.

  2. Not recommended at all.

    hii x

This is the worst Host service ever. I am a client for over 4 years now and this year Ipage become such a nightmare for me. My website gets down every hour. why? the server is down and never gives you a solution. I tried to upgrade my plan and nothing changed.also, I find some files deleted from my file manager without my permission at all. Service Client! most of the time the support has no idea what they are doing. Not recommended at all.

  1. Helped me when I deleted all my dns…

Helped me when I deleted all my dns information

  2. Do not use this company

    Bailey W

Do not use this company! I signed up, paid for my domain and then never was able to use my account. I would receive cautionary messages when I would click the confirmation link in the email that it is not a secure site and that it is fraudulent, spam, possibly hacking my financial information etc. I tried multiple times to address this with the company directly and was told that it was a problem with Google! I couldn’t get my money back and or cancel my account. The best they could do is NOT charge me again in a year when my domain renews. I’ve contacted an attorney. Please don’t fall victim!
